Financial Modeling Prep, or FMP, is a market data API. It sells quotes, historical prices, financial statements, transcripts, 13F holdings, insider and congressional trades, and news to developers and to people building their own research tools. If you code, or you want Claude to pull real numbers instead of guessing, this is the target user.

The free Basic plan gives 250 calls a day with end of day data. Starter is $22 a month billed annually with 300 calls a minute and 5 years of US history. Premium is $59 and adds 30 years of history, intraday charts and technical indicators. Ultimate is $149 with global coverage, transcripts and bulk delivery. The AI piece is an official MCP server that wraps the REST endpoints as tools, so Claude or another agent can query FMP directly with your API key.

The catch: FMP is raw data, not a finished app. There are no charts to click and no trade ideas, and displaying the data in a public product needs a separate license. Trustpilot reviews are split, with praise for coverage and complaints about support and data gaps. Skip it if you do not write code or use an AI agent that can call an API.
