PortfoliosLab

Portfolio Manager — Freemium

Portfolio backtesting, risk and optimization tools with an MCP server for ChatGPT and Claude.

Cluster analysis that exposes hidden portfolio overlap

Overview

PortfoliosLab answers one question: is your portfolio as diversified as you think? It backtests allocations, measures drawdowns and risk-adjusted returns, maps correlations and runs optimizers from mean-variance to risk parity. It is built for long-term investors and allocators, not traders hunting the next entry.

You build or import a portfolio, pick a benchmark and get performance, volatility, Sharpe, Sortino and cluster analysis that shows which holdings move as one. The AI piece is a connector, not a chatbot. An MCP server lets ChatGPT or Claude read your saved portfolios and analysis results, then walk you through a qualitative review. The server can also create and update portfolios from the chat.

The catch: the good stuff is metered. Plus runs $100 a year and Pro $250, and each includes only ten MCP calls a month in preview. Real MCP volume needs Max at $900 a year. Backtests are history, not forecasts, and the site says so. Skip it if you want live trading, tax lots or broker sync. Use it if you want to stress-test an allocation before you fund it.

Is PortfoliosLab Legit? FAQ

Is PortfoliosLab legit?

PortfoliosLab is a working product, but it has fewer than 10 public reviews on Trustpilot, G2, the App Store and Product Hunt. What exists so far: 3 reviews on Trustpilot, averaging 4.0 out of 5. We list it because it has a real AI feature, not because it paid us. The biggest drawback we found: Heavy MCP use needs the $900 Max plan.

How much does PortfoliosLab cost?

PortfoliosLab is listed at Free / $100/yr. There is a free tier, with paid plans above it. Prices change, so confirm on the official site before you pay.

Does PortfoliosLab have a free trial?

There is no time-limited trial listed, but the free plan lets you test PortfoliosLab before paying.

Does PortfoliosLab have an API or MCP server?

Yes. PortfoliosLab offers an API and an MCP server, so you can connect it to your own code, a trading bot, or an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT.
