Thesis monitoring that checks your reasons against SEC filings

Overview

Helm Terminal is a portfolio monitor for self-directed investors who hold accounts at more than one brokerage. It links them through Plaid on a read-only basis and treats the lot as one book. It is known for thesis monitoring: you write down why you own a stock, and the software watches whether those reasons still hold.

Two engines do the work. A rule engine handles the arithmetic: concentration risk, ETF overlap, earnings exposure and harvestable tax losses screened for wash sales across accounts. Same inputs, same answer, every time. The AI side is a language model that reads SEC filings, earnings and news against your thesis and flags a change. Each claim must quote the source word for word with a date and link, or it is dropped. A daily brief ties overnight moves to your holdings, and a free AI stock analysis page needs no account.

The catch: this is new and small. It launched in April 2026, the founder says it is run by one person, and there are no independent reviews yet. Coverage is US listed securities only, and the iPhone app is still in Apple review. The free plan includes one monitored thesis. Pro costs $20 a month or $149 a year. It cannot place trades, so active traders should skip it.
