Take Profit Trader Review | Fees, Rules and Whether It Pays Out
This Take Profit Trader review covers a one-step futures prop firm that charges a monthly subscription for its evaluation (the "Test"), then lets funded PRO traders withdraw from day one at an 80/20 split once they clear a buffer. It does pay out: the firm says withdrawals land via Plaid, PayPal or Wise, typically within one business day, and it reports that 36.22% of Trading Tests passed in 2025. The catch for systematic traders is absolute: Take Profit Trader's Universal Trading Policies ban trading bots and algos on every account type. Read the buffer rule and the intraday drawdown on PRO before you pay, because those two lines decide whether payout day ever arrives.
Key insights
- No bots, period. Policy #1 of the Universal Trading Policies: "Automated trading systems, bots, or algorithmic execution tools are not permitted." Trade copiers for your own accounts are allowed.
- $50K Test rules: $3,000 profit target, $2,000 end-of-day trailing drawdown, 6 contracts, at least 3 trading days, best day under 50% of net profit.
- The funded side flips the drawdown. Tests use end-of-day trailing drawdown; PRO uses intraday trailing drawdown that counts unrealized gains.
- Day-one withdrawals, after the buffer. A $50K PRO account must reach $52,000 before profit above that line can be withdrawn at 80%.
- Promo NOFEE40 gives 40% off the Test for life and waives the $130 PRO activation fee. Re-check it on purchase day; promos change.

What Is Take Profit Trader?
Take Profit Trader is a futures prop firm. It sells access to a simulated evaluation, not a signal service or a brokerage account. You pay for a Test, hit a profit target without breaking the drawdown rule, then graduate to a PRO account where withdrawals start.
The first fact in any Take Profit Trader review is who you are paying. The company behind it is TakeProfitTrader LLC, listed at 9100 Conroy Windermere Rd, Suite 200, Windermere, FL. It is not a broker, and its FAQ says the NFA and CFTC do not require futures funding firms to be members. Orders route through Tradovate, NinjaTrader and Rithmic, and TPT says it "does not internalize orders" or act as counterparty.
The firm is unusually direct about where payout money comes from. Its FAQ says PRO payouts "come from a combination of collected test fees, tech fees, and shared PRO+ profits when applicable." That is the honest description of most prop models, and it is worth reading twice.
Platforms and data feeds
TPT says you can connect "any of our 15+ available trading platforms." On the CQG data feed the homepage lists NinjaTrader, TradingView and Tradovate. On Rithmic it lists R|Trader, Quantower and MotiveWave, with more behind a "see more" link. Your feed choice matters later: TPT's automated account-to-wallet withdrawals currently cover most Tradovate PRO accounts, while Rithmic PRO withdrawals stay manual.
One more access rule worth knowing before you sign up. TPT's restricted-countries article says a single trade or even a market-data view from a restricted country counts as a violation, and that VPNs, remote connections or shared networks routing through one can trigger it. If you travel, check the list before you log in from abroad.
The three account tiers
- Test: the paid evaluation, simulated, end-of-day trailing drawdown, monthly subscription with no time limit.
- PRO: the funded account after passing, still simulated, intraday trailing drawdown, 80/20 split, withdrawals from day one above the buffer.
- PRO+: a live-market account at Tradovate, by invitation only, with a 90/10 split, end-of-day drawdown and no buffer requirement.
Who it suits, per this Take Profit Trader review: a discretionary day trader with a tested process who wants fast access to withdrawals. Who it doesn't suit: anyone running code. This Take Profit Trader review can't soften that point, so it sits up top.
Decision rule: if you can't explain your edge in one sentence, a Take Profit Trader review isn't what you need right now. A journal and 30 days of paper trading are cheaper than a failed Test.
What Are the Take Profit Trader Fees and Rules?
The Test is a monthly subscription, billed on the same calendar day as your first purchase until you pass or cancel. Breaking a rule does not cancel it; you must cancel manually from the dashboard. When you pass, the subscription stops and the PRO account carries no recurring fee.

Monthly Test prices load at checkout and were not published as text on the pages we checked (2026). Two official anchors help. The homepage FAQ says "a failure of a test can cost, at MOST, $360." The NOFEE40 FAQ says a $50K Test passed within 30 days with the code costs "just $102 flat," which implies a $170 list price at 40% off.
| Account size | Monthly fee | Profit target | Drawdown | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $25K | Shown at checkout | $1,500 | $1,500 EOD trailing | Max three contracts or 30 micros; reset $79 |
| $50K | About $170 implied by the NOFEE40 example | $3,000 | $2,000 EOD trailing | 6 contracts or 60 micros; reset $99 |
| $75K | Shown at checkout | $4,500 | $2,500 EOD trailing | 9 contracts or 90 micros; reset $139 |
| $100K | Shown at checkout | $6,000 | $3,000 EOD trailing | 12 contracts or 120 micros; reset $169 |
| $150K | Up to $360, the stated maximum Test cost | $9,000 | $4,500 EOD trailing | 15 contracts or 150 micros; reset $199 |
A reset gives you a fresh Test with the same rules and does not change your renewal date. Commissions are $4.50 per round trip on full-size futures and $1.50 on micros, set by TPT on both Test and PRO.
The rules that shape the real cost
This is the part of the Take Profit Trader review to print and tape to your monitor.
- Profit target (Rule 1). Fixed by account size, from $1,500 to $9,000.
- Maximum position (Rule 2). A static contract cap, with ten micros allowed for each full contract.
- EOD trailing drawdown (Rule 3). In the Test, drawdown is calculated once, at the daily close. Your minimum balance follows your highest end-of-day balance up until it reaches the starting balance, then stops. But touch the minimum at any moment, with realized or unrealized losses, and the account liquidates.
- Approved products and hours (Rule 4). Trading runs 6 PM to 5 PM Eastern. TPT closes open positions at 4:55 PM Eastern, and nothing carries overnight.
- Consistency (Rule 5). At least 3 trading days, and your best day must be below 50% of total net profit.
- No counter positions (Rule 6). No opposite positions in the same or closely related products.
The consistency rule, worked
TPT's own example on a $50K Test: $2,000, then $600, then $500. Total $3,100, best day $2,000, so 65%. You have not failed. Your new profit goal becomes more than twice the best day, so you need over $4,000 total. One great day cost you another $900 of required profit.
Common mistake: treating the Test fee as a one-time cost. It rebills. If it takes four months to pass a $50K at about $170 a month, you've spent roughly $680 before your first withdrawal, plus any resets.
Does Take Profit Trader Allow Bots and Automation?
No. This is the single biggest correction any Take Profit Trader review needs to make, because older write-ups say otherwise. TPT's Universal Trading Policies open with "#1: No Trading Bots or Algos. Automated trading systems, bots, or algorithmic execution tools are not permitted." The policies apply to Test, PRO and PRO+.
The PRO Account Rules repeat it: "We do not allow any automated or bot trading of any kind. All trades must be manually executed by the trader." Violations can mean profit forfeiture, account reset, closure or removal from the platform.
What is allowed: trade copiers on your own accounts
TPT draws a careful line. Its Trade Copier Policy permits copiers only for accounts you own and control. The approved list:
- Tradesyncer
- TradeCopia
- Affordable Indicators
- Replikanto Flowbot, compliance edition only
- Platform-native copiers in Tradovate, NinjaTrader, MotiveWave, Quantower and similar
You trade the lead account by hand; the copier mirrors it. Copying between different people, offsetting positions across your accounts, pass services and payout services are all banned. TPT says enforcement looks at behavior and execution data, "not the specific copier software used."
Independent trading is policed
The Independent Trade Execution Policy says each account must represent independent trading decisions. TPT monitors trade timing correlation, strategy similarity, sizing patterns, execution clustering and device or infrastructure clustering. Syncing your own accounts in one direction is fine. Syncing with anyone else is not.
If you trade with code, go elsewhere
Lucid Trading's help center says automated systems and trade copiers are permitted, and Topstep allows automation with conditions. Our Lucid prop firm review and Topstep review cover those rules. A bot on a TPT account isn't a gray area. It is policy #1.
Does Take Profit Trader Actually Pay Out?
Yes. Take Profit Trader pays PRO traders 80% of profits above the buffer, with no minimum profitable days, no funded consistency rule, no payout window and no maximum withdrawal, according to its NOFEE40 FAQ and PRO withdrawal rules. PRO+ pays 90%.

The buffer matters more than the split
TPT's profit split and withdrawal rules set the buffer equal to your maximum drawdown:
| PRO account | Buffer zone | Max drawdown |
|---|---|---|
| $25K | $26,500 | $1,500 |
| $50K | $52,000 | $2,000 |
| $75K | $77,500 | $2,500 |
| $100K | $103,000 | $3,000 |
| $150K | $154,500 | $4,500 |
Worked example: a $50K PRO account at $53,000 has $1,000 above the buffer. Withdraw it at 80/20 and you receive $800. On PRO+, with no buffer and a 90/10 split, the same $1,000 pays $900. If a PRO account closes, TPT says you can withdraw 50% of the buffer zone.
How fast the money moves
TPT's Speed of Payouts update made the account-to-wallet step automatic for most Tradovate PRO accounts. It now takes 5 to 10 seconds, and you must be flat with no working orders at the moment you submit. Rithmic PRO and PRO+ withdrawals stay manual for now.
The wallet-to-bank step is separate. TPT's Profit Team reviews those requests for compliance, which can take up to 12 business hours. Then:
- Plaid for U.S. banks: real time or ACH, sometimes 1 to 2 business days.
- PayPal or Wise for international traders, and Wise or PayPal for LLC payouts.
- Fees: withdrawals of $250 or less from the wallet cost $50. Above $250, TPT waives its fee, though PayPal may charge its own.
A request can be denied for four stated reasons: insufficient funds, open positions or orders, Tradovate maintenance, or a Tradovate API problem. Fix the issue and resubmit.

Documented proof versus claims
A Take Profit Trader review should separate what the firm proves from what it claims.
TPT publishes its pass rate: 36.22% of Trading Tests passed in 2025, and 20.37% of registered users passed a Test from January 1 to August 31, 2023. It does not publish audited payout totals. Treat testimonials on the site as vendor-selected; TPT's own testimonial disclosure says they may not be representative.
Is Take Profit Trader Legit?
Take Profit Trader is an operating business with a public knowledge base, a physical address, a BBB profile and a Trustpilot page linked from its own footer. "Legit" does not mean "regulated like a broker," and TPT does not claim it is.

Trust signals:
- Rules published in exact numbers, from buffer balances to reset prices.
- A disclosed pass rate and a disclosed source of payout funds.
- Named execution partners you can check yourself.
- Dated policy updates, such as the October 2026 Trade Copier Policy revision.
Things that deserve skepticism:
- Sustainable Trading Policy discretion. TPT says it may "part ways as funding partners without prior notice" with traders whose patterns look simulation-only, like max size at the open or around key releases.
- News blackouts on PRO. You must be flat one minute before, during and one minute after FOMC statements, Non-Farm Payrolls and CPI.
- Weekly activity rule. PRO and PRO+ accounts must trade at least one day per calendar week.
- Restricted countries. A long list, including the Philippines, Turkey, South Africa, Nigeria and Vietnam. Even one trade or market-data view from a restricted country can get accounts blocked.
The Take Profit Trader review verdict on trust: a real, transparent operator that clears the lowest bar and then some. It is not a regulated broker, and its discretion clauses are broad. Read current Trustpilot and Reddit threads before you fund, not a review written months ago.
Take Profit Trader vs Topstep and Lucid
No Take Profit Trader review is complete without the comparison. Take Profit Trader sits in the same futures prop category as Topstep and Lucid Trading, but the three differ on fee model, automation and funded drawdown. Here is each firm's own published position.
| Feature | Take Profit Trader | Topstep | Lucid Trading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Evaluation length | Minimum of 3 trading days | At least 2 days (55% consistency target) | LucidPro: as few as 1 day; LucidFlex: 3 days |
| Drawdown type (funded) | Intraday trailing on PRO; EOD on PRO+ | Trailing MLL that locks at $0 | EOD on Pro, Flex, Direct; intraday on LucidDaily |
| Payout split | 80/20 PRO, 90/10 PRO+ | 90/10 | 90/10 |
| Daily loss limit | None in the Test rules we read | Optional in Combine and XFA; automatic in Live | Optional by configuration |
| Bot/automation policy | Not permitted | Allowed with conditions; no VPS for orders | Automated systems and copiers permitted; no HFT |
Decision rule: choose Take Profit Trader if you trade by hand, want withdrawals from day one and can live with an intraday drawdown on PRO. Choose Lucid or Topstep if any part of your execution is automated. For the wider field, see our best prop firm comparison.
Who Should Skip Take Profit Trader?
Skip Take Profit Trader if you don't yet have a tested, repeatable process, because the Test will charge you monthly to discover that.
- Anyone using a bot, algo or automated execution tool. It is banned on every account type.
- Swing traders. Positions close at 4:55 PM Eastern, and nothing carries overnight.
- News traders on PRO. FOMC, NFP and CPI require you to be flat.
- Traders who can't afford two failed Tests. If two or three months of fees would change how you size, you aren't ready.
- Traders in restricted countries. A pass you can't withdraw is just an expensive simulation.
If none of those describe you, and you already have position sizing and a stop loss built into your process, a Take Profit Trader review becomes a pricing decision instead of a trust decision. If sizing is still shaky, start with our breakdown of the position sizing mistake that wipes out new traders.
What Happens After PRO: PRO+, Resets and Account Limits?
Most traders stop reading at "funded." A useful Take Profit Trader review keeps going, because the PRO stage has its own costs and ceilings.
PRO+ is an invitation, not a level-up button
TPT's PRO+ articles say the upgrade is offered by email "solely at the discretion of Take Profit Trader." PRO+ accounts are live accounts at Tradovate with $0 margin, and once you move to PRO+ you are classified as a professional trader. That label can change what you pay for market data elsewhere, so ask before you accept.
What you get in return: a 90/10 split, orders routed to the exchange instead of the simulator, end-of-day drawdown, and no buffer requirement for withdrawals. The rules otherwise mirror PRO, including the weekly trading requirement, no counter positions, and flat through FOMC, NFP and CPI.
Blowing a PRO account is expensive
TPT lets you reset a PRO account up to three times per account. The prices are not small:
- $25K PRO reset: $449
- $50K PRO reset: $649
- $75K PRO reset: $799
- $100K PRO reset: $999
- $150K PRO reset: $1,499
TPT calls these a convenience fee, since PRO accounts are simulated and no margin is posted. Compare a $649 PRO reset with a $99 Test reset and the lesson is obvious: protect the funded account like it is your own money, because replacing it costs six times as much as retaking the Test.
How many accounts you can run
- Tests: as many as you want, traded at the same time.
- Funded accounts: up to five active PRO or PRO+ accounts per person, and your five-account allowance moves with you to PRO+.
- Activations: up to 10 passed Tests can be activated in any 30 calendar days.
Five funded accounts plus a trade copier is how many TPT traders scale. Keep the rule from earlier in mind, though: the copier can only mirror your own manual trades, and a bot on the lead account is still a bot.
Decision rule: if you plan to run five accounts, budget for the worst case. Five blown $50K PRO accounts cost $3,245 to reset once each. Size the copier group so one bad day can't take all five.
How to Pass the Take Profit Trader Test Without Paying Twice
Any Take Profit Trader review that skips process is selling you the Test, so this Take Profit Trader review ends with a plan. Here is the plan we would run.
- Trade the $50K, not the $150K. The $2,000 drawdown gives a disciplined day trader room, and the fee is far smaller.
- Cap risk at 10% of drawdown per trade. That is $200 on a $50K, ten losers before you are out.
- Plan for three days, not one. The 3-day minimum and the 50% rule both reward spreading profit. Aim for about $1,000 to $1,200 per good day on a $3,000 target.
- Respect the 4:55 PM Eastern close. Set a hard stop time 15 minutes earlier.
- Watch the renewal date. Pass before it, or the next month bills. Breaking a rule doesn't stop the rebill either.
- Before PRO day one, re-plan for intraday drawdown. Trim winners mechanically. Open profit now raises your floor in real time.
- Journal every trade. Our best trading journal roundup covers tools that tag rule breaks automatically.
Test the strategy before you test the firm. Our free backtest reality check flags the usual overfitting tells.
What Does the NOFEE40 Promo Really Save?
The NOFEE40 FAQ says the code gives a 40% lifetime discount on the Test subscription and waives the $130 PRO activation fee for that account, even after resets. There is no limit on how many Tests you buy with it during the promo window, and no deadline to pass.
On a $50K Test at about $170 a month, the code saves roughly $68 a month plus the $130 activation. Pass in month one and you pay $102 instead of $300. Take four months and you pay about $408 instead of $810.
Two catches. The waived activation arrives as a $130 credit you apply after passing, and Tests bought with credits are not eligible for promotions. TPT has not published an end date for NOFEE40, so confirm it is still live at checkout.
How Many Months Until a Take Profit Trader Account Pays for Itself?
This section walks through the real math of recurring Test fees against expected funded payouts, so you know your break-even point before you subscribe. Knowing that number changes whether a Take Profit Trader review feels like an opportunity or an expense.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Take Profit Trader actually pay out?
Yes. This Take Profit Trader review found that PRO accounts pay 80% of profit above a buffer equal to your drawdown, from day one, with no minimum profitable days or payout window. Wallet-to-bank requests are reviewed within about 12 business hours, then paid via Plaid, PayPal or Wise.
Can you use bots on Take Profit Trader?
No. Take Profit Trader's Universal Trading Policies ban automated trading systems, bots and algorithmic execution tools on Test, PRO and PRO+ accounts. Approved trade copiers are allowed only to mirror your own manual trades across your own accounts.
What is the monthly fee for Take Profit Trader?
Take Profit Trader charges a monthly Test subscription until you pass or cancel, and the price shows at checkout. The firm says a failed Test costs at most $360, and its NOFEE40 example puts a $50K Test at $102 after a 40% discount. A $130 one-time fee applies when you activate PRO unless a promo waives it.
How does the NOFEE40 code work?
NOFEE40 gives a 40% lifetime discount on the Test subscription and waives the $130 PRO activation fee for that account, even after resets. The waived fee arrives as a credit you apply after passing. No end date was published, so confirm it at checkout.
What is the Take Profit Trader buffer?
The buffer equals your maximum drawdown, so a $50K PRO account must reach $52,000 before profit above that line can be withdrawn. PRO+ accounts have no buffer requirement and pay 90/10.
How legit is Take Profit Trader?
Take Profit Trader is an operating Florida company with a public knowledge base, a published 36.22% Test pass rate for 2025 and named execution partners. It is not a broker or NFA member, and its Sustainable Trading Policy gives it broad discretion over accounts.
Our Take
For a discretionary futures day trader, Take Profit Trader's day-one withdrawals, published buffer math and one-step Test are a fair deal, and this Take Profit Trader review found the rulebook clearer than most. For anyone running code, the answer is no: bots and algos are banned on every account, and only trade copiers between your own accounts are allowed.
The two details that decide whether payout day arrives are the buffer and the switch to intraday drawdown on PRO. Prices, the NOFEE40 promo and the approved copier list all change, so confirm each one on TPT's pages the day you buy.
